Up until late Wednesday night my guess was the Sox would explore the trade market, with Oakland Athletics starter Sean Manaea looking like an ideal option. The bigger issue is who replaces Eduardo Rodriguez. No matter who ends up winning - I'm predicting Houck - the Red Sox should be in good shape at the back of the rotation, especially once newly signed starter James Paxton returns from Tommy John surgery. ![]() The fifth spot will be an interesting storyline come spring training, with Tanner Houck, Garrett Whitlock and recently acquired Michael Wacha all likely to compete for the final rotation job.
